About

"Explaining Today: The Future of America's Past" is a professional learning and content development program focused on engaging grade 6-12 and pre-service teachers in exploring American history through digital humanities projects. Over three years, project leaders at partner stations will host a series of "train the trainer" workshops for public school teachers and preservice educators in participating public television communities. Each workshop will use episodes from the Emmy Award-winning documentary series "The Future of America's Past" to model how teachers can develop learning resources to capture the imaginations and increase the media literacy and critical thinking skills of their students through the use and creation of digital humanities projects that feature primary source/archival materials.
