Louisa's return to Portwenn further raises questions about her relationship with Doc and if they will stay together. Meanwhile, Al welcomes his first fishing guests, and Bert decides to try and rejuvenate trade at the restaurant by offering a 2-for-1 lobster special. Morwenna asks Doc for a pay raise and Louisa, her return to school imminent, has to find a new babysitter to look after James Henry. She reluctantly decides to offer Janice a trial. Aunt Ruth has to face the fact that there is no escaping the aging process, and Penhale is excited to receive his new police issue Taser.
Episode #703 – "It's Good to Talk"
Martin has decided to move out of the Surgery, giving Louisa the much-appreciated space she needs. While she is intrigued to meet Martin's therapist, Dr. Rachel Timoney, Louisa is not quite so happy when Rachel suggests that they should have therapy as a couple. Janice's babysitting of James Henry does not get off to the best of starts, but fortunately Penhale is around to help her out. After his disastrous lobster special scheme, Bert disappears; Al is very concerned when Ruth tells him about Bert's behavior when he finds out there are bailiffs at the restaurant. Mrs. Tishell, feeling that Martin will not be able to look after himself living on his own, decides that she is the best person to help him.
Episode #704 – "Education, Education, Education"
Louisa and Martin have their first therapy session together. Peter Cronk, now 15, approaches Louisa to ask if Martin will allow him to volunteer at the Surgery. Louisa is surprised, and impressed, when Martin agrees to this: perhaps he is learning to change after all. Morwenna is not quite so happy about it when Peter starts trying to boss her around in the Surgery. Meanwhile, Mrs. Tishell is surprised by the return of her husband, Clive. Bert, after losing the restaurant and having nowhere to live except his new camper van, is looking for other opportunities. Penhale is trying to impress Janice. Louisa has to call Martin to help her when Jessy, one of her pupils, collapses during a school excursion. Together, they rush Jessy to the hospital.
Episode #705 – "Control-‐Alt-‐Delete"
Martin reaches his breaking point after being followed around by Buddy the dog: he resolves to find a vet to have him put down. Morwenna, and eventually Louisa intervene and find a new home for Buddy with Angela Sim, a local vet. Martin is not impressed by Angela's alternative approaches to medicine, even if it is veterinary medicine. Meanwhile, Ruth finds out what Bert has been up to — trying to make his own whiskey! Clive is suspicious of Mrs. Tishell and who she might be cooking meals for, but decides to give her the benefit of the doubt so they can give their marriage another go. Penhale wants to ask Janice out but only succeeds in asking her to a group BBQ at his place. He then has to persuade Al and Morwenna to come, too. Louisa and Martin's therapy homework results in a picnic, much to Martin's dismay, but even this doesn't go to plan when they are interrupted by Angela and Buddy on the beach: Angela appears to be hallucinating.
Episode #706 – "Other People's Children"
Martin and Louisa don't seem to be having much success with their therapy, so Dr. Timoney suggests they should take things back to the beginning of their relationship, and plan a date. A last-minute request from Danny, Louisa's ex-boyfriend, brings him and seven children from London to camp on Ruth's farm, supervised by Al and Bert. Martin is not at all pleased when Danny proceeds to try to intervene in their troubled relationship. Things are going slightly better for Mrs. Tishell and Clive, though Clive worries he will not be able to keep up when Mrs. Tishell invites him back into the bedroom, with disastrous consequences. Things don't start off too badly for Martin and Louisa on their "date," but when Danny calls saying Jake, one of the campers, has gone missing, their night is effectively over. When they finally find Jake, they also find Bert's whisky still, and Penhale is keen to lay down the law to Bert. Martin and Louisa are left wondering if anything will ever go right for them when Martin uncovers a health scare at James's first birthday party that makes all the guests leave very quickly.
Episode #707 – "Facta Non Verba"
After Martin and Louisa tell Dr. Timoney about their failed date night, she questions their ultimate compatibility. She asks them if it is time they recognize that perhaps they are not meant to be together: something for them to go and think about. Martin has new neighbors: Erica the new Art Teacher at Portwenn school has moved in with her daughter, Bernie. Penhale manages to protect everyone after a car accident outside the school, and Louisa is very surprised when the victim of the crash turns out to be Dr. Timoney. Penhale is happy to finally have his crime-stopping talents recognized but is confused when he is offered a transfer to another town, particularly as this will mean leaving Janice behind — even though he hasn't quite managed to ask her out yet. Bert, his whisky dream now in tatters, decides to go back to something he knows. He becomes a handyman, though even this doesn't prove worthwhile when his first customer, Erica, has an accident. Guest starring Sigourney Weaver (Alien).
Episode #708 – "The Doctor is Out"
As we reach the final episode in Season 7, Martin finds himself in a very unusual situation: held hostage by Annie Winton, who desperately wants him to save her husband, Jim, who has been recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. Annie insists that there must be something that Martin can do to help. Meanwhile, Ruth and Bert have a proposition for Al regarding the whisky and the B&B. Louisa is very worried about Martin's disappearance, and wonders if the breakdown of their therapy could have led him to decide to leave Portwenn for good. She calls on Morwenna, Janice and Ruth for help, driving up to the Winton Farm, where although Annie tries to persuade them otherwise, they discover Martin's predicament. Reunited with Louisa, Martin manages to find Jim and perform a life‐saving operation on him. But is it too late for Martin and Louisa to save their marriage?
