Description
VOLVO OCEAN RACE 2008-2009 is an exciting weekly digest of one of yachting's premier racing events. The Volvo Ocean Race — often called the "Everest of Sailing" — pits the world's best sailors against one another as they circle the globe to vie for one of the sport's most highly coveted prizes. America's Cup champion, ESPN commentator and author Gary Jobson hosts this 39-part recap of each week's adrenaline-pumping racing action. Seven high-definition cameras positioned on board the boats capture the high drama of living and racing on the open ocean. Over the course of nine months and 39,000 nautical miles, eight 70-foot yachts battle each other and nature's extremes: mammoth 50-foot waves, stinging snow and sleet, ice-encrusted decks, oppressive equatorial heat, violent ocean storms and massive icebergs. The 10th running of this ocean marathon begins in Alicante, Spain, in October 2008, and includes stopovers in India, China, Brazil, South America, the United States, Ireland, Sweden and Russia. |
