Grammy-winning Cuban singer, producer and composer Albita Rodríguez, known simply as Albita, is regarded as one of Latin music's most dynamic and beloved performers. She draws her inspiration from the eclectic sounds of the Cuban songbook, mixing the genres of rumba, son, changui and bolero. Shot over two days in September 2010, TODA UNA VIDA: CUBAN MASTERWORKS - ALBITA captures the Havana-born songstress as she records her studio album of the same name. The performance documentary provides a rare glimpse of a master at work, illustrating the raw, sultry voice that propelled Albita to international stardom. Over the course of an hour, Albita guides viewers on a lyrical journey through her life. Between songs, she explains her musical philosophy, her greatest influences, the unifying power of art and her six-month stint on Broadway in The Mambo Kings.
