Documentary

In the summer of 2003, the Vagabond , a small sailboat with a three person French crew, set off on an expedition with the goal of crossing the Northwest Passage between the Pacific and the Atlantic via the Arctic Ocean. ARCTIC BOUND follows the adventurers over the course of a year as they follow in the steps of Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, who made the voyage in 1906. It is a perilous journey since global warming is causing rapid changes in the Arctic and the ice pack is in constant flux. In addition to documenting the harsh polar conditions that are the backdrop of the adventure, the stunning photography of ARCTIC BOUND reveals the stark beauty of the landscape and the creatures that live there, including polar bears, musk-oxen and beluga whales. Ultimately, the Vagabond arrives in Baffins Bay, and its crew becomes the first to circumnavigate the Arctic Circle in two summers and without an ice breaker.
