Fillers

I EAT WEEDS & TREES is a series of fillers that identifies wild, edible plants used in ancient and modern times. Long valued for their medicinal properties, the featured plants include both well-known varieties and those not commonly found in field guide books. Ranging in length from 90 to 120 seconds, these 26 light and often-humorous fillers emphasize entertainment and education in equal measure. They explore the fables and folklore surrounding the plants’ history, as well as their vitamin, mineral and nutritional content. Created with the assistance of botany experts, the fillers also feature recipes that use the plants in a meal or medicinal potion. Fillers will be selected from the following: pine trees, blackberry leaves and roots, thistle, ribwort plantain, cattail, wild onions, lichen, white basswood, greenbriar and “HorseSugar/ Sweetloaf.”
