Savvy Scheduling of APT Programs Lead to Strong Ratings in May
With the nationwide release of The Da Vinci Code and a renewed interest in the mystery behind secret societies, APT’s SECRETS OF… captured the attention of public television audiences in May. Over the course of the month, the program’s 21 primetime airings averaged a 1.9, culminating in high individual station airings including KOPB/Portland’s 4.6 on May 11. On May 18, SECRETS OF… catapulted to the top of public television’s primetime rankings, earning a 3.3 on KTCA/Minneapolis.
Additionally, on May 17, APT’s JACKIE GLEASON – GENIUS AT WORK was cleverly scheduled as a lead-in or lead-out to PBS’s Pioneers of Primetime leading to strong ratings for seven stations. PubTV noted: “Off the feed, seven primary stations followed (or, in two cases, preceded) Pioneers of Primetime with another special of the genre, JACKIE GLEASON – GENIUS AT WORK, for a strong 2.2 rating (the same stations earned 2.1 for Pioneers).” Throughout May, the program averaged a 1.9 over nine primetime plays.
