Split the feed with APT programs for strong GRPs

Ever think about splitting the national feed with an APT program? Several stations have done so with great success. On Jan. 16, WPTD, KLVX, KQED, and KCTS split NOVA and Frontline with an APT show and subsequently earned their best rating of the night. For instance, KLVX’s NOVA and Frontline combined airings earned a GRP of 2.0. However, by splitting the feed with APT’s WARBIRDS OF WWII, KLVX boosted their primetime GRP to 4.1. Similarly, KCTS split the PBS feed with APT’s WOMEN OF K2, earning the station’s top primetime airing for the night (2.3) and helping secure the station’s No. 6 ranking on PubTV’s top GRP station list.
