APT’s Nostalgic Programs Continue to Capture Hearts

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, a classic Western from 1960, was APT’s top program in December: It averaged a 2.5 across 13 primary station plays and additionally topped the individual station rankings with a 5.4 for KOED+/Tulsa’s airing on Dec. 16. In fact, the Context newsletter noted how an APT classic movie can even outrank the ever-popular Saturday night comedies. Due to pledge, Saturday comedies received less play than usual (3/4 of an hour) on Dec. 16 therefore resulting in just average ratings. “APT-distributed classic movies performed very differently: THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN earned 3.1 on five stations, topping the list of titles used by five or more.

APT’s nostalgic pledge shows HAPPY HOLIDAYS: THE BEST OF THE ANDY WILLIAMS CHRISTMAS SHOWS and CHRISTMAS AT THE HOLLYWOOD PALACE also captured America’s yearning for the past. The second release of HAPPY HOLIDAYS averaged a 2.0 among 11 primary station airings over the course of the month, while HOLLYWOOD PALACE followed close behind with a 1.8 over six primary station airings. )
