According to Trac Media, “Over the 5-year trend … the How-To programs (as well as cooking and travel) have not changed their ranking … and are still a good choice for
weekend programming … Cooking, by far, fares the best, as well as comprises a high percentage of the weekend schedule despite the addition of digital multi-casting.”
Popular APT culinary talent Lidia Bastianich of LIDIA’S ITALY, Mark Bittman of BEST RECIPES IN THE WORLD, and Ruth Reichl of GOURMET’S DIARY OF A FOODIE were all recipients of 2009 James Beard Awards. APT culinary programs, including the shows featuring these award-winning hosts, continue to bring in the viewers on weekend daytime. BEST RECIPES averaged a 0.9 over five airings and LIDIA’S ITALY averaged a 0.8 over 112 airings. Another staple, MEXICO – ONE PLATE AT A TIME WITH RICK BAYLESS, topped APT’s weekend daytime ratings averaging a 1.0 over 44 airings in April.
