APT supplies 91 hours to the DT2A (HD) feed schedule each month. This represents eight ongoing series, complemented by new and returning specials.
From big bangs to Richard Bangs, APT HD Lights up the July Schedule
 Primal Grill With Steven Raichlen
|
Beginning July 12, Primal Grill With Steven Raichlen (13/30; WS) makes its HD channel debut. Each Saturday, the "gladiator of grilling" delivers more tips, tricks and recipes for delicious barbecue delights. The next day, we premiere Richard Bangs' latest Adventures With Purpose, "Switzerland: Quest for the Sublime" (1/60; HD). In his third special, Richard Bangs sets off for Switzerland, the birthplace of adventure tourism, the wellspring of ecotourism and an inspiration for organized tours into the wild, in search what philosophers and poets of the past called "the sublime." On another continent, Holly Morris of Globe Trekker (1/60; WS) ventures to Malawi and Zambia, where she retraces two epic journeys by legendary explorer Dr. David Livingstone: Lake Malawi and the Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This episode, part of season seven, marks the series' first appearance on APT HD.
This month, we also welcome new seasons of popular lifestyle series For Your Home XXIII (12/30; HD) and Katie Brown Workshop III (26/30; HD). This season, For Your Home co-hosts Vicki Payne and Sloan Payne-Rutter tackle a range of home decorating, remodeling and gardening projects, including designing a baby's nursery, organizing a garage sale and turning homes into eco-friendly abodes. Another returning favorite finds lifestyle expert Katie Brown and her crew sharing more fun and creative cooking, gardening and decorating ideas from her real-life workshop.
The second season of The Rochester International Jazz Festival II (6/60; HD) joins July's roster of music performance specials. This year, an eclectic group of jazz and blues musicians, including Geri Allen, Harry Allen, Don Bryon, Bill Frissell, James Moody and Christian Scott, perform at Rochester, New York's Eastman School of Music. Between concerts, the artists candidly share their thoughts on their music.
Highlighting this month
Celebrate the red, white and blue with APT HD in July. Our Independence Day-themed programming kicks off early, on June 27th, with WPSU's Gettysburg and Stories of Valor (1/60; HD), and continues through July 11th with Monumental Reflections (1/30; HD), KETC's tribute to the iconic St. Louis Arch. During the first week of July, we've scheduled documentaries Great Museums: Year of the Museum Specials II #201 "The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum: Home Base" and WCVE's Liberty or Death (1/60; WS), a stirring docudrama about the impact of Patrick Henry's famous speech on the American Revolution. Stations wishing to air WUSF's 3, 2, 1 FIREWORKS (1/30; HD) in time for the holiday should plan to record the soft-feed Sunday, June 22 on DT3A. The explosive new special takes viewers on a behind-the-scenes at the dazzling Washington, D.C. July 4th celebration, one of the largest and most colorful fireworks displays in the world.
