AMERICAN PUBLIC TELEVISION COMMITTED TO ONGOING DISTRIBUTION OF TWO GOURMET-THEMED PUBLIC TELEVISION SERIES

BOSTON (Oct. 8, 2009) -- American Public Television (APT) – the distributor of the Emmy award-winning series GOURMET'S DIARY OF A FOODIE as well as the soon-to-be-released GOURMET'S ADVENTURES WITH RUTH – continues to work with Boston-based producer WGBH to actively distribute both series to public television stations across the United States.

“GOURMET'S DIARY OF A FOODIE has repeatedly won national media acclaim, broadcast and culinary awards as one of the best culinary programs on television,” said Chris Funkhouser, APT's vice president of Exchange programming and digital services. “While we were greatly saddened to hear of the demise of Gourmet magazine, we have been pleased to see that both WGBH and Condé Nast are still committed to these outstanding programs. They deliver great value to public television stations and viewers.”

Funkhouser added that GOURMET'S DIARY OF A FOODIE has also become a valuable addition to the Create™ TV channel. Create TV is a multicast public television channel managed and distributed by APT. The channel features public television lifestyle favorites, including programming focused on cooking, travel, home improvement, crafts and gardening.

APT will release GOURMET'S ADVENTURES WITH RUTH to more than 355 public television station across the country on Oct. 17. The series invites viewers to travel the globe alongside host and food icon Ruth Reichl, her colleagues and celebrity guests as they visit exotic cooking schools and experience the local foods and traditions.

“With broadcast rights running for three years, the show will be seen by appreciative fans in markets across the country for some time to come,” Funkhouser added.
